I quit wm after getting pneumonia (after covid) and having to fight for time off
I worked as a front end associate for 6 months at my local neighborhood market and got covid, had trouble with time off for that, then had to fight for time off for my sister’s wedding that I was a bridesmaid for, then got pneumonia. I worked 3 days sick as fuck and couldn’t breathe then on my day off my mom dragged me to the ER because I couldn’t go from my bed to the bathroom without half dying. When I got the pneumonia diagnosis I called my people lead and she told me to put in for a leave of absence (LOA) through Sedgwick. I did. My TL blew up my phone the next two days before I answered and she said I filed wrong saying I got hurt on the job and if I had just called the SM she would’ve given me the time off for the pneumonia.
Not once did the SM reach out to me.
I quit over text when my LOA was pending during the time I requested after my TL and one AT were blowing up my phone daily to see if I’d be in when scheduled. My freaking mother was contacted on SOCIAL MEDIA to see if I was going to be in one day after I’d already called in and done the call out on the app.
Folks, I’m finally better and can go for extended periods without coughing up a lung or feeling like I’m gonna pass out and I go in for on boarding at a new job tomorrow. The starting pay is $17 an hour. For fast food.
I looked it up and the Walton’s only own 44% of the company but they make between $430-475 BILLION. the richest woman in the world is a Walton at $134 billion.
The fast food restaurant I’m starting at is worth an estimated $9 billion.
Please please please don’t take Walmart seriously. It’s a stepping stone or a safety net, not a career.
