New Chicago Hardy Fig Parent

I know nothing about growing fig trees, other than what Google tells me, but I bought a 20-gallon pot when I got this baby from a fig enthusiast who was rooting and selling them out of his home. It just looked like a stick when I got it back at the end of April. I was told it had been freshly potted earlier in the day when I bought him and to let his roots grow. We'll it's been a month, and in southern Ontario 🇨🇦 we've been getting a lot of ups and down in temperature. For example, we were in the 30sC over the weekend and are now at 12C, but we will be going back into the high 20sC in a few days. His leaves bursted like crazy in the heat, but it's spoil is pretty damp, so i'll be bringing him in tomorrow when we get the massive rainstorm coming. Once the rain has passed, I'm thinking I should probably repot it in it's forever home....any thoughts?

And yes, I am aware that in my zone 6b, I will have to bring it in to protect it. I don't have an unheated space to store it, but have a sunny nook with a window in my attic bedroom, and have purchased a 50W grow light with a timer, so I figure i can use a dolly to carefully bring it upstairs from my back deck before it goes into dormancy, and use the grow light to help compensate for the short winter daylight hours we get. So if anyone has recommendations for that as well, it would be appreciated.
