My G string very randomly will growl as shown in the video. I replaced the G string for troubleshooting purposes and now it happens less often but the growl is still present with the new string.

I’ve noticed the sound once or twice on the D and C string, but that’s it. 99.99% the sound comes from the G string only. And it happens on any pitch.

I am a beginner so my bowing technique is far from perfect but I really think there is something wrong with the cello at this point. I have not experienced this sound on any other cello (I have played on three so far).

What are your thoughts on the sound that is being produced? Is it a skill issue or does the cello need to be serviced?
