Exploring Options

42 M and 41 F with a 14 yr old. We are all Canadian citizens. Own two properties here and one property in India (not in livable condition) in tier 1 city. We plan to send our kid to UK or Ireland to study medicine. We are settled well here but miss our social circle from India. We have good job prospects if we move back. I would appreciate if someone could share their opinions.

Financial independence

I am 42 and my hubby is 43, and I have a 13 yr old wanting to study medicine. Both salaried in the government sector, combined annual income of $2,00,000. Great benefits. Own two propertiesin Canada and one in Asia. We have a total debt of about 2 million. We kind of live cheque by cheque. Our biggest annual expense is our daughter's school and extracurriculars we pay ~50,000 for school and extracurriculars. Monthly mortgage and bills sum up to around ~11,000. We try one vacation each year, nothing outrageous ~ 10,000. 5 out of 7 days we cook and eat at home. I started investing 200$ per month in TFSA and $200 in RRSP at the age of 35. Hubby started investing three years ago about 200$ monthly in TFSA. I am sure I am missing a lot of other relevant info.

But I want to learn, in our situation how do we save? I genuinely am keen to learn.
