AI + Cronometer - Our CEO, Aaron, Was on the Pod!

Hey everyone!

We just dropped a brand new episode of Discovering Nutrition, and this one is all about AI!

I had the chance to sit down with Aaron Davidson, our CEO, and ask him a bunch of the questions we've been hearing from our community about AI, how we're using it at Cronometer, and what our approach might look like moving forward.

With AI becoming such a huge part of our everyday lives (and the health space particularly), it felt like a really important conversation to have right now. I am so proud to work for a company that values transparency and is willing to have these discussions!

If you've got some time, I'd love for you to give it a listen (or watch!) and let us know what you think.

PS. Happy Canada Day to all of our fellow Canadians! 🇨🇦🧡

Cronometer Brand Evolution: New Icon & Target Visualizations

I am really excited to make this announcement today!

Do you all remember this post?

A year ago, this post sparked quite the debate in our Reddit community. I made a pitch to change the Fat Target Bar colour that day, and today I'm excited to share that it's been implemented!

But that's not all... wait, there's more.

We're also introducing a new logo (oooo... ahhh...!) along with several other meaningful updates:

More Neutral Fat Visualizations

Fat is an essential nutrient. Certain visual treatments could unintentionally resemble warning indicators, even when users were simply reviewing their data.

Updated visualizations now use more balanced, brand-aligned color systems that support objective interpretation while maintaining clarity.

Improved Saturated and Trans Fat Target Logic

Some nutrients previously defaulted to targets of 0g, which could create confusing visual feedback.

Updated target logic better reflects nutritional context while still allowing users to customize targets based on their personal goals.

Clearer "No Target" States

Not every nutrient tracked in Cronometer has an established recommended intake target.

Components such as cholesterol, oxalate, alcohol, and insoluble fiber don’t currently have official Dietary Reference Intake targets. Those nutrients are labeled No Target because there isn’t a universally established goal to compare against.

The updated experience makes it easier to distinguish between:

  • No value logged
  • Value logged without an established target
  • Value logged with a target

I hope this update shows just how much we truly do value your feedback. Many of the improvements we make come directly from these conversations with our community - you help shape the future of Cronometer every day.

Thanks for being the best users on the planet! 🧡

17 Million Users! 🧡🧡

A few weeks ago, we hit 17 million users at Cronometer!

Most people don't know this, but when we hit 7 million users, I started a little tradition: I run the same number of kilometers as the number of millions of users we've reached, I've kept it going ever since.

So, as tradition goes, I laced up my shoes and ran 17 km to celebrate. The weather had other plans and it poured the entire time, but that didn't stop a group of coworkers from joining me. It was the first time anyone from the team had come along, and it made the run way more fun!

I just wanted to send a huge thank you to this community for being part of the journey. This group of anonymous people on the interwebs has truly been a highlight of my career! So, whether you've been with us since the early days or just started tracking, we're incredibly grateful you're here and helping us reach milestones like this.

Let's see how long my legs can handle this... LOL! Can't wait for the next 18kms!

Welcome Voice Logging + Siri

After many requests, we are elated to announce the addition of Voice Logging + Siri for our Gold Subscribers!
We built this because there’s always been a bit of a tradeoff with tracking:

You want to understand your health, but you don’t want to spend more time on your phone doing it (don't we spend enough time on our phones already?).

We've come to understand that the more friction there is, the easier it is to skip logging altogether.

Voice logging is our attempt to fix that.

Instead of thinking like a database, you just... talk like a human.

You can:

  • log hands-free while cooking or eating (this is how I personally use it and I am always blown away!)
  • capture meals in real time or add them later
  • reduce the effort it takes to stay consistent

It’s a small shift, but it makes logging feel a lot less like a task.

How to Use It:

  • Tap the + button anywhere in the app
  • Hit Voice Log
  • Say your meal in your own words
  • Review what it matched to (and tweak if needed)
  • Add to your Diary

Cronometer takes what you said and turns it into structured entries behind the scenes.

Full write-up if you want more detail found here:

We hope you love it!
