A few months back i strapped two 6 inches thick couch pillow foams wrapped in thin black fabric to the ceiling. They are 45 inches away from the drums (the ceiling is quite low)

My main problem is that they look ugly as hell and they block some of the light, so my question is, are they worth keeping? do they positively affect the acoustics of the room?
