AWS SMU update
TL;DR/BLUF: They are beyond swamped between a very successful black friday on top of an explosion of GOV orders.
After stopping in I finally got the belt I ordered in January.
My recommendation, stop by if your in the Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg area. They'll work to make it right, right there. If not, wait. If you cant wait, theyll understand and be there when things slow down. Just understand the belt is extremely popular with real world operators and larpers for a reason.
The guy who runs the place explained whats been going on though and why things are so silent in their end.
To make a long conversation short, the black friday sale for them was extremely successful. Biggger than past sales. But at the same time or right before the sale went up, he got hit with a landslide of orders from his other customer, the United States Military. So he has two huge piles of orders, but for what should be obvious reasons, one has to get done in a certain time frame. Its not a matter of picking a preferred customer base, its a contractual obligation with the Government as the backer.
While talking he mentioned that he doesnt even know what to say online, he cant go in-depth about when he gets GOV sales for obvious opsec real world reasons. Its not like they call him a years in advance for bulk orders, and the man isnt trying to be the SOCOM version of the White House Pizza Tracker. Anything he does say may just piss off customers more. So know that they do see whats being said, they do care, they are trying but the reality is its just an overwhelming amount of work.
I dont work for, and am in no way affiliated with AWS, outside of being a paying customer. But I'll give my opinions based on vibes and assumptions from the chat we had.
