I made Mnara — a native macOS menu bar monitor, and now I’m exploring local AI for Mac health
Hi everyone,
I’ve been building Mnara, a native macOS menu bar system monitor for people who want to understand what is happening inside their Mac without opening heavy tools or complex dashboards.
Mnara currently helps monitor things like CPU, RAM, GPU, network, storage, battery, temperature, startup impact, alerts, and cleanup actions directly from the menu bar.
Now I’m exploring the next step for Mnara 2.0:
a local AI-powered assistant for Mac health and performance.
The idea is not just to show numbers, but to help explain them.
For example:
- Why is my Mac slow today?
- Which apps are using the most memory?
- Is my battery health getting worse?
- What changed compared to yesterday?
- What can I safely clean?
- Which startup items are affecting performance?
- Can I get a simple weekly Mac health report?
The goal is privacy-first: useful insights directly on the Mac, with sensitive system information staying local as much as possible.
I’m still shaping the idea, so I’d really appreciate feedback from Mac users, developers, and power users.
What would you want an AI assistant inside a Mac system monitor to help you with?
