I got a DCB18WA charger and two 2Ah BLB182 batteries, brand new. The first worked fine, and charged fine. The second appears "dead", does not respond to when I push into the charger the red light turns on for a second then goes off. Battery is not hot and was never used before.

Is the battery defective? Would appreciate any wisdom before I approach the reseller or the warranty provider. None of the conditions described in the manual apply,
