Hip locked up at 9 weeks post op?
Long time lurker, first time poster! I am looking to see if anyone has been in a similar situation.
I (30s F) had a right hip labral tear and cam impingement repaired about 15 weeks ago. Recovery had been going slow but OK until the 9 week mark. One day, I stood up from the couch, and my hip was completely locked up and wouldn’t straighten, and I had sharp 8/10 pain. After about 30 seconds, it loosened up, and I could stand, and the pain improved to about a 4 or 5 out of 10. Since then, there has rarely been a time where my hip hasn’t been in pain (usually a 2-3), and I still get twinges of sharp pain from time to time, usually with prolonged standing.
My surgeon said it sounded like a tendon issue and to keep going with the PT. I see him again in 4 weeks.
I do think PT has helped some, but overall, I am feeling pretty discouraged to be about 4 months out and still in pre-op level pain. I am concerned I somehow retore the labrum standing up, even though that doesn’t make sense.
Has anyone else experienced a random episode of your hip locking up post-op? Or had a very slow recovery, but ultimately improved enough to return to running? I appreciate any advice, encouragement, commiseration!
