Gen 2 fast charging with one plug: my project
I have been working on a charging project for my Gen 2 zero to reach ~1C (12.6kw on my 14.4 DS), ie 1h theoretical for full charge.
After years of riding, I came to the same conclusion as many of us: the range is not the real bottle neck in most use cases, it is the charging time.
I also wanted to use the many type 2 stations that exists (in Europe at least), not to rely on type 3. In any case, 22kw is more than enough to reach 1C.
I also wanted to use only one plug as my previous attempts required me to use 2 separate plugs.
In addition, I also wanted to be able to use the tethered stations, not only the “bring your own cable” ones.
I already had a charge tank (6kw) and will add 2 x 3.3kw external chargers, that will be integrated permanently to the motorcycle.
So I am very happy to share that my first test (with one 3.3kw charger) has been successful as I reached ~8.9kw in average with peaks at 9.1kw!
