People often say not wanting kids is a selfish decision- but why? I can see that the world needs young people to work the jobs and pay the taxes and care for the old, but there are more than enough young people being born globally! Population is booming (maybe not evenly in every country, but immigration exists) so it’s not like we will run out of train drivers and doctors and teachers. In fact there are more young people than jobs in a lot of places, and overpopulation is a problem in some.
Is it because it’s selfish not to give the parents grandchildren, or to prioritise yourself (travel, job, whatever) over a hypothetical future child?
No hate on anyone who wants kids or doesn’t, I just genuinely don’t understand the reasoning as to why no kids is “selfish”.
