At the start of the year I took out a finance agreement on a car (Audi A3). With the agreement, i paid extra to have 1 year warranty (the car originally only came with 3 months).
Anyway, after a week of owning it, something broke. I’m not going to go into detail into what broke as to be honest, i never got a straight answer, but let’s just say i’m a 24F sensible driver, who only primarily drives to work and back, so the car certainly wasn’t abused. They fixed it in about a week so i was happy.
About a couple of weeks after I noticed it was misfiring. Now i immediately called the garage I purchased it from to let them know, and they said “no worries! bring it in we will have a look”. I said great. Not ideal as i had to buy temporary insurance (again) on a family members car, but at least it will be fixed. At first they put it down to the battery, so they ordered one in, changed the battery, handed it back and said it was good to go… it wasn’t. So i rang up the next day and explained it still wasn’t right, they said it could be a fault with the engine itself, so they told me to bring it in again. They checked it over, said it was something to do with spark plugs, kept my car for a few days, handed it back and said it was fine… it wasn’t.
So at this point, i was regretting ever getting this car. This dealership was over an hour drive for me bear in mind so all of these trips were costing me a lot of money, and the expense of borrowing a family members car just to get to work wasn’t cheap either. I explained my disappointment to them and that I just want it to run how it should, and they said “let us take it to our partnered mechanics, they will sort it out for you”. So i said okay…
So i once again took it in, they said they will get it back as soon as it’s fixed. I bought temporary car insurance once again as I didn’t know how long I needed it for.
I heard nothing the first week, so i gave them a call and they told me it was the timing chain, and they just have to order a part, but it will be ready by the end of the week. Okay. The end of the week came, no phone call, so i called them and asked if it was ready. They told me the wrong part came in so they are having to order a new one, it will be ready the middle of next week (week 3). okay. The middle of week 3 came and still no call, but i gave them till the end of the week to hope it had been fixed… called them and nope! On Monday (start of week 4) i called and asked them if it had been sorted as it was becoming a huge financial burden, they said it will be ready by the end of the week. You guessed it, it wasn’t.
So that brings me onto week 5. They told me it would be ready at the start of this week, yet it’s now Wednesday and i’ve called up this afternoon and they said they haven’t even started to fit it. What can i do?! I’ve barely been able to drive it, if anything i regret trying to get it fixed, or even getting the car i the first place.
Apologies for the long post, i just wanted to get my point across. If anyone has any suggestions on what I can say to them without coming across like an a***hole, or any inputs on what you think i can do about this, that would be helpful. Thank you
