Wicca and the idea of certain Celtic 'closed practices'

I've seen a lot of misinformation on this from various places, so I thought I'd try to set the record straight. Whilst I can't speak directly to Irish folk practices (perhaps someone in the comments might be able to assist with that), I can say that on my Mother's side of the family I have both Cornish and Scottish ancestors who came out to Australia circa 1870s. Those ancestors both adapted and maintained their folk traditions and practices, for over one hundred years, right up until my Grandmother died and my Mum decided not to keep the traditions going. In all of that time the only thing that could even remotely be considered a 'closed practice' was in regards to the tending of family graves, and even then it was simply a case of requiring someone to ask or be given permission first. Every other tradition and/or practice was completely open & shared with friends and neighbours alike, if they wished to participate.

There are family traditions, not just Celtic but in other parts of the world also, that absolutely would be considered 'closed practices'. The HPS who trained me back in the 80s also practiced a form of Mediterranean witchcraft that was passed down through the matriarchal family line. That particular practice was completely closed to anyone not born into the family, and not part of the matriarchal line of descent. A closed familial practice like this is not remotely the same as someone making sweeping statements that any and all traditions and/or practices from a particular background or area are automatically closed to outsiders. Or to look at it another way, how exactly do people think we kept our folk traditions and practices alive across the other side of the world, unless those traditions and practices remained open.

(Mostly Old School) House, Techno, Disco mix.

Mix by my husband (Kevin) who is the guy behind the Ground:Fault:Interrupt YouTube page (where all my old school vinyl posts come from).

https://youtu.be/yiQeKUXMT2M?si=pJV5qZodcx5l2BYh

Description - "This is an eclectic set that will take you through classic house, minimal tech house, disco, minimal techno and more. Expect the unexpected. I wanted to cover a number of subgenres and tell a story here. No rehearsals, just playing on the fly. Some of the tracks transition neater than others, but they all have a reason for being chosen. Enjoy!"
