Seeking advice for leaving current employment for Local 76 apprenticeship with proper notice
So I have finished my interview process for Local 76 and currently ranked 3rd. I have asked the local if they have any estimate on when they may start pulling new apprentices and they cannot make an estimation. They also said they could not guarantee I would receive a two weeks notice. My current job has me leading a number of projects that my coworkers do not have much info on and are time sensitive, I would be against leaving a position without working a 2 weeks notice regardless but especially here. I have considered quitting my position now so I could leave with notice, but it seems like work is slow in 76 and I do not know how long I’d end up waiting without an income. I also am afraid that if I turned down a call up so I could give my job decent notice I’d end up waiting for a very long time or never get called again. I was hoping somebody may have had a similar experience that can give some advice.
