I'm looking at a camper online and assumed it was too tight for my SRW 2020 ram 3500 8', which has about 42-4300 lbs capacity. It's listed at 2950 dry, which I assumed didn't include water etc, so I conservatively pegged it "wet" at 37-3800 lbs, which doesn't leave much leeway for cargo and passengers.
However, the badge on the camper itself has the included water and propane on the 2950lbs dry weight, and the only option I added was the AC and awning so I conservatively figured 33-3400 lbs, which is much more forgiving.
We do travel light, probably no more than 100lbs cargo, and then 380 pounds for 2 passengers, I keep my truck empty otherwise. -- either way, under 4000.
So in a conservative situation then I think we're total at about 3800 lbs, and I'm happy with that, my old camper was also 2900 lbs, but it was in rough shape so I never kept fluid in it, so just assumed it was 2900 lbs (my truck handled it well).
