Essence of Kindred Figures
Essence of Kindred Figures
A small smoky-glass bottle, tastes faintly of vanilla and old cardboard — like a toy fresh out of the box.
Drinking this lets you bring figurines to life.
- What it works on: Any figurine — toy, PVC figure, Figma, acrylic stand, etc.
- How it works: Touch the figurine, decide to summon it, and the character it depicts appears at full canon height, with all their memories, personality, powers, and equipment. The figurine is used up in the process.
- No original is harmed: The character isn't pulled from some ongoing life elsewhere — they're a fresh manifestation, whole and complete from the moment of summoning, same as anything else the Catalog can conjure into being. Nothing is duplicated or stolen.
- Equipment: Needs no maintenance or resupply — weapons never run dry, gear never wears out.
- Upkeep: They don't need food, sleep, or care to survive, but can choose to eat or rest anyway, for comfort or normalcy. They don't age past their figurine's depiction and don't get sick.
- Getting oriented: On arrival, each summon is given a practical understanding of the current world — technology, everyday conveniences, social norms — plus anything they need to know about their new situation. It's enough to function and keep up, not a total download — they can still be surprised by specifics and still have to learn the rest by actually living there.
- Relationships: Not automatic. Each summon keeps their own personality and bonds with the host the normal way, through time and trust. Some become mentors, some found-family, some just steady presences around the farm. Platonic affection — a hug, a shoulder to fall asleep on — is normal and unremarkable.
- Death: A killed summon reverts to figurine form for 24 hours, then revives. Killed again while dormant, they're gone for good unless you have another way to bring them back.
- Crafting: Host can make his own figurines with the right tools and materials, and his are good enough to be worth a lot to collectors — though selling one means giving up the ability to summon that character.
