I have never had a stye before this flare. My eye doctor told me a while ago I could be starting to have issues with dry eyes. For context, I previously have worn daily contacts, never sleep in them, and haven’t worn them since I developed my first stye.
4 days after I moved to a new state, I got a stye on the top of my left eye. I started developing another on my bottom left eye. Within a week, it turned into a chalazion and eye doc gave me 1 week of cephalexin and neomycin ointment.
It looked like the bottom was almost gone then I developed 2 more on the bottom left. Again, these ones were 99% healed when I got more. Now, I have one on the top left eye and on the top right eye. It has been 3 weeks now of constant styes.
Went to the eye doctor again yesterday and he gave me 2 weeks-1 month of doxycycline and to restart the neomycin ointment.
I woke up this morning to a little swelling and within hours it got significantly worse!!I sent a pic to MD and he just told me to stop heat (which I did yesterday) and start cold compress.
When I took allergy medicine today, the swelling went down a little but now it looks like I have a black eye. I’m using Ocusoft lid scrub, doxycycline, and the ointment.
Is it possible this started from or is getting worse from an allergy to my new environment? Or just my dry eyes catching up to me? This is really getting me down in the dumps considering I just moved and I don’t want to leave the house.
