Built a recovery tool after getting tired of shady recovery software

After one too many “the drive died and we lost everything” calls in IT, I finally built the recovery tool I always wished existed.

It’s called NixRecovery.

Built for:

  • deleted file recovery
  • corrupted drives
  • Windows boot repair
  • systems that won’t boot at all

One thing I focused on heavily:
👉 letting people scan and preview recoverable files for free before paying anything.

No “pay first and hope it works.”

Would honestly love feedback from IT people, small businesses, photographers, or anyone who’s had a bad recovery experience before.

I’ve had to deal with way too many cases of:

  • recovering deleted files
  • fixing “Windows won’t boot” issues

And one thing that always bugged me is how split everything is.

File recovery = one set of tools
Boot repair = another
Half of them don’t show you what’s actually going on before doing anything

So I ended up building something for myself that combines both — mainly so I could:

  • scan and preview recoverable files
  • analyze boot issues before touching anything

Not really trying to promote anything here — just curious:

👉 how do you all usually handle these situations?

Do you stick with specific tools for each problem or have something you rely on?
