Crispy Tips!

I repotted my aloe and removed all the pups. Can anyone tell me why my aloe now has such crispy/ burnt looking tips on it now?
I am finally getting around to potting these pups. I’ve had them off the mother plant for at least five days. Should I snip them off at the roots so that the old roots don’t rot or just leave them on there and stick them in the soil?
I have never propagated my aloe, looking for advice. Should I cut the stem from the bottom and then let them callous? They have been sitting on this mat since I repotted my plant yesterday. I didn’t have any cuts that needed to scab over, because I just pulled each pup out of the soil gently.
Anyone have any advice for next steps?
