29M here. Over the last 2 years I’ve tried way too many plant proteins because whey just never suited my stomach properly. Thought I’d share quick thoughts in case someone’s searching Reddit at 2am like I used to.
Here's what are my opinion on different brands i tried:
- Cosmix - Probably the cleanest ingredient list among the popular brands. Felt light on digestion too. But honestly… taste is hit or miss. Some flavours were decent, some felt too earthy/chalky for me. A lot of Reddit people seem divided on the taste too.
- Oziva - Tried this during my “healthify everything” phase. Not bad at all for beginners getting into plant protein. Mixes pretty well and flavours are safer/more mainstream compared to some earthy vegan proteins. Felt slightly sweet for my liking after a while though.
- The Whole truth - Not exactly plant-only focused but I liked their “clean label” approach. Felt more natural than the super sweet mainstream proteins.
- Happy cultures - Currently the one I’ve stuck with the longest. Mainly because it’s the easiest on my stomach and doesn’t give that heavy bloated feeling after drinking it. Texture is smoother than most plant proteins I’ve had and I actually don’t dread drinking it daily. Their yeast protein is honestly pretty interesting too because it feels lighter than pea-heavy blends.
Overall I’ve realised with plant protein the biggest thing isn’t just protein per scoop, it’s whether you can actually drink it consistently for months without hating the taste or messing up your digestion
