Retina tear

I have myopia -5.75, and have since I was young (28 now). Went last week to my eye doctor for routine check for new contacts, and got picture instead of dilating eyes. Doctor saw scarring on retina and told me it looks like histoplasmosis. Referred me to a specialist, who told me it was not histoplasmosis, but tears in my eyes due to high prescription. 2 tears were in my peripheral, but one she said is close to my retina. She has me going back in 4 months to check progress and mentioned if it gets worse we would do laser treatment to cap my retina to avoid tear. Anybody have advice/ similar experience. What’s the laser treatment like??
