How important is the institution you studied at when applying for legal roles?

For context: I'm 32 and have recently started a distance learning LLB through Arden University. I missed the opportunity to go to university when I was younger, so I'm doing this primarily for personal development.

The degree isn't employer-sponsored — I work in a Senior Risk position at a building society and am hoping to eventually move into the legal function there as a qualified solicitor. I'm not aiming for a top US firm.

That said, if I ever did look externally for a legal role, would I be at an immediate disadvantage against candidates from more prestigious universities? I'm genuinely enjoying the course, but I'd like realistic expectations about whether the time and commitment will pay off.
