Recently qualified Platinum for first time six months ago after a busy travel year with work - unlikely to re-qualify.

Travelling SYD-CHC today received a random upgrade to Business Class prior to boarding. Haven’t noticed an email or SMS from Qantas yet.

I recently missed out on a requested points upgrade returning from the US - wondering whether this may have been a trigger.

Anyways, a delightful treat! Would welcome any thoughts from the community - how often does this happen? Is there any science behind it?
