I am 100% P&T, So I applied for VR&E back in Jan 2026. Got approved for benefits. Got assigned a massive amount of work, including market analysis, job postings, VR&E evaluation exams. took 30 hours worth of work. I submitted it and was approved to receive my MBA. I started to apply and realized a masters in Construction and facilities engineering better suited my needs. spoke with counslor and she approved the change. I applied to master program, including 4 letters of recommendation from colleagues. I was accepted for fall 2026 start date. started to enroll in classes and had to wait until “new students” were allowed to register. sent updates to my counselor to keep her up to date on my progress.

last week (monday) I get an email from eVA stating I have a new counselor and we will be meeting on Monday (today) via teams. I logged in this morning and was introduced to new counslor (Alex). She had none of my information. she requested everything I had already sent to previous counselor. sent it all in via eVA. we ended call very cordial. she messaged me again and asked for my packet (the 30 hour report I had already sent) so I forwarded it from my sent email to Alex.

hour later I went to get my mail and had a letter from Alex in VR&E dated 20-apr-2026 stating “she proposed to stop action on my claim because I have not completed your next steps, did not complete evaluation and we could not develop a plan to meet your needs.”. I immediately called Alex, no answer so left vm. i said “I think I am being confused with someone else. I just received letter you sent proposing stoppage of my benefits. we only just talked today and this letter was dated a week ago. no call back.

another hour goes by and I get another email via eVA stating she was not writing a plan for me because I already had BS and Masters degree was not necessary to make me employable. the jobs I submitted in my packet had master degree required, or preferred in one.

now I can dispute her decision but I have to decide if I want:

  1.  Supplemental Claim

  2.  Higher-Level Review

  3.  Appeal to the Board

I don’t know what to do. I was already approved. How can this new counselor come in and take it all back? Someone please tell me what to do.

i am pre 9/11 so my GI Bill is expired long ago.
