Something nice about Turin

Hi, I just moved to Turin. From Lisbon, but before Lisbon I was long time in Berlin. I am originally from the Nordics. I know now is not the best time to judge the city, as majority of the people have left it for August.

But a lot of times I don't feel so safe here. I am not sure if I am just imagining things. I get catcalled very often, which I just ignore. But just the randoms coming up late when you're walking home, asking for money, cigarettes or smth. Or men staring full on sometimes. I am just not used to people approaching you on the street like this, I of course feel intimidated, especially if it is men and I am alone.

Again, I lived for many years in Berlin but when I moved there I was really young and I just really adjusted to the nooks and crooks of it. And Lisbon is SOOO safe, it is like the chillest place I have ever lived. I feel like when I get older, I get scared of things unknown very fast.

Anyway, I guess I am just looking for some comfort (especially from women living here :D) and some nice stories about Turin.
And ways of how you deal with such encounters as a woman in Turin.

FREELANCE RATES IN EU

Hi, So I am a UX/UI designer, primary location Berlin, DE, with circ. 6 years of experience. I started in Siemens with a 3 month contract, working low code and then in a st start-up, working on PWA. Then for 2.5 years I worked on very complex software projects in a well-known consulting company. Even led a project in industrial engineering, which was implemented in low-code.
For past 1.5 years I have been freelancing successfully and one of the clients has been there with me from the start.
I currently charge 60 EUR/h, as when I started with my client, we rolled on 90h contract and I had never worked freelance before, so I was cautious. They still have me on but no new contract was formed. Now work circ. 20-30h for them in a week. Which is a lot. But I feel like I am low-balling myself so bad with the 60 EUR/h.
I can read CSS, I manage the ticketing, the complete work from brief to implementation, visual assets, I even designed their booklets and flyers. I basically single-handedly manage the design on DE market.

They implied they need a full time in-house designer, but I declined as I want to continue as a freelancer.

I asked for a basic freelance contract, as I am moving and need to show income. They offered me 30h/w, which i negotiated to 25h/w on divided over month. But I am not sure if, because of the stability of the hours, I should give them still the 60EUR/h price or just state also that from X date my prices will be Y.

So my question here is am I low-balling myself? What would you do?

I still want to get more clients, but I already have one more (which is public sector, interesting to me, but I can't increase my hourly rate with them) and with so many hours for them, I will struggle to make time for a real new client.

Going forward I would not charge anything below 70EUR/h for web projects and 80EUR/h for software.

Please share me your experience in increasing rate with a longstanding client, or how you should handle clients who give you more work (should you give lower rate?).

I don't want to potentially lose them but I feel like I am low balling myself a lot here...for info, the company is in private sector where there is a lot of $$ and most employees have stock, which i obv don't have any as i freelance.

Moving DE -IT

Hi, I am moving from Berlin DE to Torino IT and I am struggling to find the best way to ship my stuff. The moving trucks are requesting circ. 4k which is way too much imo. (i have circ. 1.8 m3 things)

Problem is that I have two guitars, 2 amps and music gear, which makes me reluctant to start just sending simple parcels. As these things need to travel in a moving truck/car anyway.

Do you have any leads for smaller companies that drive between Italy and Germany?

Has anyone packed a pallet themselves and sent it off?
