The hospital in the 15th district of Budapest was established in 1903 and was used as a mental hospital for upper clash residents with luxury conditions, in 1919 it was expanded due to the high demand. In 1936 a residence was built for officers and nurses (2nd picture). In 1945 the southern soviet army group expropriatedand used it as a military hospital for the soviet soldiers in hungary. Another 9 buildings has been built and also underground bunkers which has connections to an underground system connected to the sewers that go under all of Budapest. In 1980 a 5 story surgery was built by the order of Moscow. When the soviets left hungary the building was still working as a large healing centre. The building was left under the ownership of the hungarian state. Hungary had negotiations with the russian state on what to do with the building, the main idea was that a hungarian-russian owned company would run the building but the agreement collapsed. All of the equipments were disassembled and were taken to russia. Even the issue of ownership regarding the use of the building could not be resolved for three decades. A small part of the territory was renovated and is now being used as a lung-treating institution. The larger part of the building still lies abandoned in the middle of the city, in front of a school and is now extremely dangerous due to the worsening conditions. In 2012 the plan of the disctrict council was to demolish the buildings and build a public park in the place of it but the plans got nowhere.
