Need advice on clinical gap

Hello all,

I am looking for some advice and tips that could potentially help me with my clinical gap. I graduated in 2025 (diploma says 2024 dec) and i have been away from clinical work since Aug 2025. I completed a clinical attachment in the UK from july-aug.

Currently i am preparing for STEP 1 and i intend to apply for the 2028 match cycle. However, i am not able to work until then because i currently live away from home where i cant practice medicine. I will be doing atleast a couple of USCEs in between for the LORs and to fill in the gap.

I have been really concerned about not having a good explanation for the clinical gap and i was wondering if getting enrolled in an online public health course or similar would greatly help. These are quite expensive but if they can cover up for my gap, i would consider them. Or will the USCEs suffice?

Has anyone is or been in a similar situation? i would greatly appreciate any and all kinds of tips.

Canada TRV from UAE

Hello,

I applied for a TRV from dubai around 65 days ago and the current processing time is mentioned as 47 days. I was wondering when should i possibly raise a webform?

I was also told by the agent that raising a webform could influence the decision. Not sure how true this is.

Any advices from personal experience is appreciated.

Cheers!

NBME performance

Hello all,
I took NBME 25 & 26 offline and got a score of 53% 2 weeks ago.

However, i took 27 online today and got an EPC of 63% with a raw score of 65%.

Is this good? How do i keep up the prep? I plan to do the exam in 8 weeks.

Hello guys,

Im getting mixed information regarding this and there seems to be no concrete information either online.

I am an IMG, indian national who is currently preparing for the steps. I wanted to enquire if it is mandatory to have a indian medical license to apply for J1 and get the SON.

This would mean that every graduate would need to do the FMGE/NEXT exam as well as USMLE to do US residency. Is this true? Has anyone had experiences getting J1 without an indian license?

I’d appreciate any information on this.

Hello all,

As the title says, i’ve taken 2 NBMEs so far and i got the same score for both of the NBMEs.

I took NBME 25 a week ago and scored a 53% and today, i took 26 and scored the same.

Im extremely worried and clueless on how to move forward. I’ve thoroughly reviewed NBME 25 before attempting 26. I’ve also completed 80% of UWorld with a 57% correct.

While reviewing, i’ve noticed that some of my mistakes are from how vague questions are in the NBMEs as compared to UWorld. Some of them are also because i take them offline and i dont have access to the labs tab so i wing it while missing some important details. I plan to take the last 3 NBMEs online tho.

I’ve booked my triad and aim to sit it in Mid July.

This is really worrying and i need some guidance on how to move forward. Any help would be appreciated.
