Is a Master’s in Healthcare Informatics worth it for transitioning from Finance BA roles?
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some career advice.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and about 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst in financial services, including syndicated lending and insurance. I’m currently a contractor, but my contract is likely ending soon.
As many people probably know, the job market feels pretty tough right now. I’ve been applying to healthcare-related BA roles because healthcare seems to have more openings (at least from what I’m seeing), but I haven’t had much success landing interviews/offers.
I’m wondering whether getting a Master’s in Healthcare Informatics would make me more marketable or meaningfully improve my chances of transitioning into healthcare. Or would I be better off focusing on certifications, domain knowledge, networking, or tailoring my experience more toward healthcare-related BA work?
For those in healthcare IT, informatics, or BA roles, do you think a master’s is worth it for someone with my background, or is there a better path?
Any advice would be appreciated.
