I showed my work a little bit after grad school but retreated for a while. I'm back at my studio pretty productively and going out and meeting new people/artists, and get really positive feedback when they see my work on the grid. I also have existing friends/acquaintances reaching out to me with positive feedback on my work, telling me it’s time to start showing it. My CV is pretty sparse, and I want to start getting my work in shows. I’ve been applying to open calls, but not much success yet.

I work in a gallery so know the gamut and overcame a lot of my self-negativity and anxiety this past year through psychoanalysis and manifesting/journaling (honestly fucking works.) Last fair I worked at, I did a lot of just talking to other galleries as a gallery worker rather as an artist.

I’m planning to go to NADA next Sunday, I have some friends/contacts that are either showing work there or run a gallery showing there. There’s a number of galleries outside of NYC exhibiting that have programming I really see my work fitting into. I remember someone telling me talking to a galleries and NADA and then getting into a group show after that interaction, I should probably just reach out to them for advice. But just here sourcing anything, have you gotten any gallerists eyes on your work by just talking to them at fairs? What did you do/advice do you have? TIA!
