Just found out I’m pregnant with baby number 2 and we’re thrilled (though a little nervous!)

I gave birth with baby number 1 at Mayo - public. I’m from the states and think I’m just realizing how odd my labor experience was so hoping for confirmation if this is what I should expect again or if it wasn’t normal.

I was induced at 41 weeks, labored very intensely for hours in a public ward - and I mean running back and forth to be sick in the shared bathroom, told to try a medicine ball that barely fit in the curtained space because the ward was full, basically stood the entire time - The space was so tight when they tried to insert an IV they kicked my husband out and then the clerk spilled orange juice all over me because there was just no room to move …it got to the point where I refused cervical checks until I was given gas because I just couldn’t get anyone to listen to me that I needed pain relief (they just kept saying I wasn’t far enough along). Then I got gas, found out I was in fact 9cm, missed my window for an epidural. I was then moved to a private room and gave birth, about two hours of pushing, naturally at 1am. Husband was told to leave at 2am and then me and baby were in a ward with 5 other women all c-sections so needed extra support and I was just on my own. Nurses checked in once and it Took hours before someone brought two paracetamol.

I know parts of this are not normal but is the beginning labor? I was expecting to be moved to a private room as soon as I was laboring so I could move around, use the ball, try different positions, etc. is it normal in Ireland to labor until pushing in a public ward??

Trying to figure out if I should go to a different hospital this time (which would be 1.5 hours to either Galway or Sligo) or try to go private (though I’m not sure MUH even has private rooms.) I have no idea what semi-private is. Any and all advice welcome!
