Obrigado!

A football fan from Turkey asking: What really happened to Boavista? (And the 5th division phoenix club story?)

Hello everyone!

I’m a football fan from Turkey. Boavista was a very well-known and respected name here. I clearly remember that iconic checkered shirt, their historical league title, and watching them play in the Champions League. They always felt like a massive, historic club.

Recently, I was trying to catch up on Portuguese football and I was shocked by what I read. From what I understand, the original club has essentially been destroyed/closed down due to extreme financial issues and corporate (SAD) mismanagement. I also read that the fans (or the Ultras) have created a new "phoenix club" that is currently playing in the 5th division to keep the spirit alive.

However, I also heard there are some criticisms, controversies, and mixed feelings locally about how all of this went down and about this new 5th-tier team.

I will be visiting Porto soon, and as a football romantic who hates what modern corporate football is doing to historic clubs, I am incredibly curious about the actual truth. I figured the best place to get the real, unfiltered story is from the locals. What exactly happened to the original Boavista? Is it 100% over? What is the deal with the new 5th division team? Are they truly supported by the majority of the fanbase, and what is the controversy surrounding them?If I want to feel the real "Boavista spirit" while I'm in the city, where should I go or what should I see?

Any insights, history lessons, or local perspectives would be massively appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Coming to Bucharest for Rapid vs. CFR Cluj! Need ticket advice and a local fan to hang out with

Body: Salut everyone!

I’m planning to visit Bucharest in early August, specifically to catch the Rapid București vs. CFR Cluj match at the Giulești Stadium.

First of all, I want to ask: how hard is it to find tickets for this specific match? I know the stadium is compact and Rapid fans are incredibly loyal, so I’d love some advice on how/when to secure a ticket before they sell out.

A little bit about why I'm coming: I have a small YouTube channel where I travel to watch teams with real, passionate, and authentic fanbases. I'm completely against the "tourist" football experience. I chose Rapid because I have huge respect for the club's history and the atmosphere the fans create.

On match day, I’m hoping to do some short, casual street interviews with the fans. More importantly, I’m looking for a local Rapid fan to hang out with before the game. I'd love for someone to show me around the Giulești neighborhood, tell me about the club's culture, and maybe teach me a chant or two.

I’m not looking for a professional guide—just a passionate fan who speaks some English and wants to share their club's spirit with a fellow football lover. In return, all the pre-match beers and food are absolutely on me!

If you can help me out with the ticket situation or just want to grab a beer before the match and talk football, drop a comment or send me a DM.

Mulțumesc mult!
