Coverage for Mother and Baby in NC
Give me your advice --
I will be having a baby this August. My current marketplace plan costs $500 a month with a $8000 deductible which will result in a large hospital and OB bill for us.
I will be taking 3 month unpaid maternity leave from my part time job. My gross salary is about $35,000 husbands gross salary is about $73,000.
We already have a toddler who has been on Medicaid she is up for renewal soon.
Two questions --
Will new baby likely qualify for Medicaid? Should I apply before or after the birth?
Could I possibly apply for Medicaid while on my maternity leave an have retroactive coverage for the hospital birth?
I have even considered not returning to my job to see if I can qualify myself for Medicaid after maternity leave.
