One photo for each day I spent crossing Japan

My second trip to Japan and the rule I set myself: one photo per day, chosen out of hundreds. The hardest part wasn't taking them, it was cutting the rest!

Kyoto was the one city I'd always told myself I had to see before I die. Thinking about this trip today and it already feels like a distant dream.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Kamikōchi🍁, one of the most rewarding hikes in Japan

Kamikochi is a very famous valley at 1,600 meters elevation in the Japanese Alps. It’s very popular because you can see beautiful sights while walking on flat terrain in just a few hours and it’s also the starting point for some of the best treks in the country.

Here are a few locations you can see (minus the fog) in my photos:

- Myojin Pond and the mystical Hotaka Shrine

- Taisho Pond

- Kappabashi Bridge

- Myojin Bridge

It's a fantastic place and these guys 🐻 know it!

A misty, rainy morning in the Japanese Alps - Kamikochi

Kamikochi is my favorite outdoor destination in Japan and I wanted to try to share the indescribable atmosphere I felt that day, especially around Hotaka Shrine and Myojin Pond.

Pics taken in late October 2025.

Dawn of Miyajima

Staying overnight on Miyajima is absolutely worth it. After the day-trippers leave, the island takes on a completely different, almost magical atmosphere.

Walking through the awakening of northern Japan

These photos were taken during an 18 days solo trip through Tohoku this late April in the historic North of Japan (until 1869 with the integration of Hokkaido). I sometimes faced transport challenges, long hikes and language barriers but I was always rewarded with stunning landscapes, warm smiles and a unique atmosphere.

I hope this album captures a bit of the peace I felt in these less-traveled regions. If you enjoyed it, please let me know :) You can also check some of my previous albums on the sub like Walking in the empty hours of Japan or Kamikochi in Fall

Cute house in Shiogama

On my way to Shiogama-jinja (very nice shrine btw) from the station I met this cute house with a cute bridge and a cute shidare-zakura in full bloom

Wandering around Japan brings countless little precious sights like this one and I love it
