My buddy made an epic screw up and I don't have enough experience with woodworking to offer sound advice. Help?

My buddy was visiting his girlfriend's parents and offered to clean some carpets. The parents have old growth Walnut flooring in most of the house. The only finish they ever used was tung oil on them over the last 20 yrs. He accidently dripped an oxi-clean solution when walking the bucket back and forth from the kitchen to the bedroom upstaris and this is what the floors and stairs looked like after 30 minutes. What can be done to correct it, if anything, aside from sanding and refinishing all the flooring in the house? He tried a re-application of tung oil, but it only fixes the color when wet. After it dries, the white spots return to looking like the pics. The only thing I could think of was to carefully spot sand with a variety of fine grit paper to try to remove any oxi-clean residue, try to blend the color with similar matched stains if the wood has infact been blesched, and then re-oil. Any one more experienced and wiser that could help save him?
