Scuba or free diving cert
Hi guys! So I’m currently on a long trip in the Philippines and Indonesia. My husband recently got his OW certification and I couldn’t pass the mask drills part :(
A bit of a background: I recently took a free diving class and I saw a very good improvement to how deep I can go but I don’t stay down long enough. I have done in total 3 scuba fun dives plus the whole class at the pool and I had snorkeled hundreds of times. I don’t swim professionally but I won’t drown in the water, I know how to float but I get exhausted when I tread water for more than 5 minutes.
Anyway, I love the ocean, I like to explore and being able to spend time there. It’s now sad for me that my husband is going scuba diving at every place we go and I can’t go because I’m not certified. The point is that I live in USA and I know when I go back home I won’t be scuba diving because it’s costly but I could free dive as much as I want. However, I feel that while I’m here I’m missing out but it also gets costly going for just “fun dives” and you get to go very shallow.
I’m looking for advice from experienced people that can guide me through making a decision on which certification to get. Thank you!
