Need help deciding Between Waterloo BME or UofT TrackOne
Hey guys, I’m currently deciding between these two options but they both seem like amazing schools.
I’m a pretty well rounded person who is good at bio, chem and physics. Biomedical engineering and creating prosthetics/artificial organs seems interesting to me, yet I can’t say I’m 100% certain about the pathway. I’m also unsure whether I want to go to grad school.
I’ve mainly heard that Waterloo has an excellent co-op program, while UofT is more rigorous (curves grades down), and has PEY which is slightly worse. I’m lucky that money is not a problem and my parents are able to support me if I pick either option, however it would be nice to earn some money from the UW coop program.
However, TrackOne would allow me to explore my options more before going into one of the core 8, while it’s harder to switch between programs at Waterloo. I’ve also heard that Biomedical engineering is not that great of a program compared to other engineering disciplines and it may behave harder to find co-op.
Since I live far away from both schools, I’ll be living on campus. UofT has a really nice campus since its downtown, although I do hear the residences are kinda bad. Waterloo’s campus is comparatively more depressing, but I’ll probably be moving a lot anyways with coop. I also know a couple hs friends who are going to UW and I’ll be able to dorm with, however I don’t know anyone going to uoft.
Which one do you think I should pick? Please help me lol, I genuinely feel like both are such great options
