How should I improve from 1100 to 1500 Rapid?
Hi everyone,
I've been working on my chess more seriously recently (though not too intensely—mostly doing puzzles and trying to blunder less) for about a month. In that time, I’ve gone from around 700 to 1130 Rapid on Chess.com.
I know it's not a huge achievement, but I'm actually pretty happy with it. It feels even more satisfying when I remember those days when I used to blunder my queen in almost every other game. I still do sometimes, just not as often 😂
I started chess about two years ago. Back then, I played for around 4 months and improved from ~100 to 998 Rapid, but I couldn’t improve further at the time because I got busy with life. When I came back, my rating had dropped to around 700.
I know some of the common advice already—like doing tactics and reducing blunders—and I’ve also heard people say that not everyone can reach 1500.(It's even more hard if you're an adult)
So I just wanted to ask: do you think reaching 1500 from here is realistic, ( I believe it doesn't seem that much far so it should be achievable in 6 months I guess but people say it took them year or two to go from 1000 to 1500
and what should I focus on next?
I’m also planning to start learning middlegame and endgame concepts (I know some people say they’re not that important at this level, but I genuinely want to learn them).
Is there anything else you think I should add to my study routine?
