Would you have used this as a first-year UVic student?

Hey everyone,

I'm a UVic science student and I've been thinking about a project aimed at helping first-year students survive some of the tougher courses (CHEM 101/102, MATH 100/101, PHYS 120, BIOL 184, etc.).

The idea is a collection of course-specific success guides created by students who have already completed the course and done well in it. Not just notes, but things like:

• Concepts that students usually struggle with
• Common mistakes and how to avoid them
• Study strategies that actually worked
• Formula breakdowns and explanations
• Practice questions
• Exam-prep advice

I'm trying to figure out whether this is something students would actually find useful.

A few questions:

  1. What first-year course did you struggle with the most?
  2. What resources did you wish existed?
  3. Would you rather have PDFs, a website, or something interactive?
  4. If a high-quality guide for one of your courses existed, what would you expect it to include?

Any honest feedback is appreciated, including reasons why you think this is a terrible idea.
