Need some advice

I am moving to Houston Texas in a few weeks and I am job hunting for industrial maintenance, millwright, and field technician positions. I am a millwright/welder/maintenance at my current plant making decent $$$ but it is time for me to move on because my job limits my growth.

So far i have applied to 7 different jobs on indeed. One smaller company, ive had 2 interviews with seemed to go well. Did a follow up/thank you and have got zero response. Another company scheduled an interview with me and they never called. Since then I have sent an email and left a voicemail and again, no response.

What I am asking is, what is the best route I should go getting a job in Houston? I am willing to travel, I have shut down/turn around experience, and I have experience working in a refinery. A few thing that may hold me back from certain positions is that I have limited electrical, hvac, precision alignment experience but I am sharp and willing to learn. Would it be better for me to show up to different companies in person when I get there and pass out my resume? Also I do have a TWIC card that is valid.

Any advice helps, thanks!
