Canon PIXMA GM2040 — text/lines shift
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my Canon PIXMA GM2040 printer and I can't figure out what's causing it.
The problem: When I print tables (from Google Sheets or PDF), the vertical lines and text in cells shiftslightly at certain points - like the content "slides" mid-print. It looks like a misalignment that gets worse the further down the page you go. See photos attached.
Key observations:
- The issue is much worse in landscape orientation than portrait
- In portrait, there's still a slight shift but noticeably less
- Happens regardless of the source: Google Sheets, PDF via browser, PDF via Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Plain text documents without tables print perfectly fine
- The problem is consistent across all apps and file types
What I've already tried:
- Full printhead cleaning (regular + deep clean)
- Printhead alignment (manual and automatic)
- Reinstalled printer drivers from scratch
- Updated to latest firmware
- Checked paper tray guides — paper is loaded correctly, no skew
- Tried different paper
My setup:
- Printer: Canon PIXMA GM2040
- OS: Windows
- Printing black ink documents (this is a mono printer)
Any advice before I take it to a service center would be hugely appreciated!
