Marlow UK half Ironman 31 degrees?!?
Hello! I (37F) am planning to do my first half Ironman on Sunday 24 May in Marlow, just outside London.
I can’t say my training has been especially disciplined but I am/was aiming for 7.5 hours. The weather report is saying it’s now going to be 31 degrees and sunny which is just insane for the UK (I’m Australian so don’t usually have this complaint!) especially after the weather we’ve had so there has been no opportunity to train in the heat.
After bad experiences with the event organiser (RunThrough) cancelling an earlier event I was going to use for training without any communications, I don’t really trust them to take athlete health seriously by putting extra aid stations on or… cancelling the event?
I would love any advice on how to handle the heat and how do you know, physically, when it’s time to pull out if the time comes. Thanks!
