The Middle Bronzes of Pupienus

My collection focus is on middle bronzes and I thought I’d share these rarely seen As & Dupondius of Pupienus.

The As is only known with one reverse of Concordia and other As attributions are simply underweight sestertii.

The Dupondius has two reverses, victory and an ironic Votis Decennalibus promising 10 years of rule.

Absolutely stunning Philip Dupondius I just picked up

There are a lot of third century bronzes floating around but few ever come close to this quality, let alone in such a rare denomination.

Pupienus Bronze denomination set, rarest of rarities

By sheer luck I’ve been able to finish this set, As and Dupondius of Pupienus are exceptionally rare with nearly all examples having been bought up in the 20th century; few ever returned to the market.

Finished the Philip Dynasty in imperial bronzes

This set took patience but it’s finally done. Middle bronzes of this dynasty are particularly varied and interesting despite the rarity they bring.

Imperial Bronzes ❤️

A couple years into collecting and I’ve been trying to compete full bronze denomination sets from Augustus to Gallienus. Here’s my progress!

The two elusive and extremely rare bronzes of Valerian II.

Completed a denomination set for this elusive Caesar, one posthumous sestertius and one rarer As issue as Caesar.
