New lore for Slimes, Golems and Dungeons.
Just thought of this while sleeping so I woke up and wrote it. Feel free to tell me what you think and hopefully it stills sounds good in the morning.
Slimes, Golems and Dungeons are different races of the same species.
All 3 posses cores that store their mind/consciousness but the structure of their bodies is different.
Slimes possess bodies made of mana typically in a liquid or solid-liquid state. Slimes eat by absorbing foreign substances into their bodies, breaking them down into their base structure then consuming what it can from it. Most Slimes can also evolve their bodies using this method by mimicking the structure of what they consume. For example, a Slime that consumes metal may learn to harden parts of its body like steel. A Slime that consumes poisonous creatures may develop toxic secretions. A Slime that absorbs magical crystals may develop better mana storage or spell-channeling capacity.
Golems possess bodies made from natural material. Golem cores absorb mana from the environment as a fuel source. Golem's bodies can't regenerate by growing new cells rather they can either produce the same material their bodies are made from similarly like how biological creatures grow new cells or like Slimes they can absorb minerals from the surrounding environment.
Dungeons can have features of both Slimes and Golems. The Dungeon's body can be made from the minerals in the environment or can be made from mana in the shape of different structures. The core remains the same however, the body's functions changes depending on how it's made. For example, if made through natural minerals in the environment then the only way the core can "eat" or absorb energy is by "spawning" creature that act as mouths for the core, commonly seen as monster spawning in dungeons. If however the dungeon is made of mana it has some more leeway on how it eats but also has a stronger need to eat/consume energy since it's constantly expending energy to maintain it's body. This is seen as both monsters spawning and eating things inside the dungeon & the dungeon absorbing creatures and magical materials threw what's seen as walls or floors. Treasures found in dungeons are minerals that couldn't be consumed and were repurposed as bait.
