Please insure your Frenchie before it’s too late
This is a critically important warning for Frenchie owners. The flip side no one wants to mention: can you pay a $10,000 vet bill. Out of pocket, right now? You are playing with fire, most active and athletic dog who got severe IVDD. $1900 is nothing compared to emergency spinal surgery, which STARTS at $8,000 and must be done immediately. I am pleading with you to reconsider
ETA: health issues don’t even show up until year two, typically. People love to crow about their healthy Frenchies and they’re all < 12 months. Allergies don’t show up until age 2-3, IVDD a bit later.
Seriously, I’ve watched this play out a thousand times over the last two decades. It’s a “Boasting about not needing insurance to begging ‘PLEASE SAVE MY DOG’ via Go Fund Me”-pipeline that breaks my heart every time. Every Frenchie currently in local shelters was ditched for medical reasons:
- IVDD
- untreated massive tumors
- botched C-sections
- extreme allergies
- dry eye / blindness
- tiny Merle puppies born with cleft palates / no eyes / etc
I’m sure there are numerous other things, The main thing I was grateful for, is I never had to say no to the vet. We knew that we could afford any treatment that came our way. Pet insurance gives you peace of mind. I NEVER hesitated to take him to the vet or ER.
