Where to begin?
So, my wife and I are currently in the process of restoring a Victorian house. When things are more settled with it, I want to turn my attention to this shed. The wall studs and roof trusses are fine, but the floor is shot and all the floor joists and plywood base needs to be replaced. I can’t afford a new shed, and I am naively hoping/planning of repairing this.
Because I’m also a gluten for punishment, I would also like to add a porch to the front length you see, and the side with the door. The “plan” in my head (feel free to laugh and shake your head and this next part) is to rent a bobcat, trench out the footprint for the porch deep enough for a compacted gravel base (and also some on the back and other side for drainage/footing), put in said base, then take out the floor inside. From there, prepare and install the base for underneath, take off the siding (which needs to be replaced anyway), run boards crosswise along the width of the wall studs to shore up the structure, then jack up the whole structure so I can replace the floor and drop it back down.
As I’m typing this, I can head the insanity, so I turn to the all knowing and seeing Shedditors of reddit to tell me I’m insane, of offer any better suggestions. i apologize if all the flaked lead paint from the house has rotted my brain.
