For me it would be preferable to have the AI improved and general problems fixed than “costumes” for my avatar.
It seems to me that Duolingo is more interested in gamification than improving the quality of the learning experience.
YES, learning should be fun. Just don’t emphasize that over quality.

Has anyone else experienced an EXTREME increase in volume when completing a flash card exercise within a lesson? This happens to me very frequently and it’s painful when I’m wearing earbuds.
I’m in Italian, section 5 unit 21, iOS version on an iPhone 16 running iOS 26.3. It doesn’t happen every time and it never happens in any other app.
When I complete a flash card exercise, frequently the last one before the final three “let’s increase the difficulty” exercise at the end of a section (but it happens elsewhere too), the audio volume increases to the highest level possible for the “ba-ding” and swoosh sound. It’s painfully loud when I’m wearing my AirPods even though I’m using sound level protection. The volume goes back to normal immediately after the blast. I use my AirPods very often and this never happens in any other app.
Duolingo needs to fix this ASAP. I’ve flagged “something else happened” when this occurs maybe a half dozen times, but without a way to specify the problem I figured I’d try flagging it here.
Does anyone else have this issue?
