Losing weight advice

Hello! I’m just recently going through a breakup and using this time to start getting fit/ losing weight. I’m on the heavier side and would love to lose 60 pounds in a year. I’ve been wanting to lose weight for awhile now so I’m using this as my push to start! Anyways a friend told me to do a fasting method, only eating between 12-5pm and no eating in between. And another friend of mine said I shouldn’t be following that method and eat earlier on in the day. I’m new to everything, dieting, calorie deficit, cutting, gym, ect… so any advice (not even regarding this topic) would be extremely helpful!!
