So I made this instrumental last year in October for me and my bros to hop on, but ever since maybe around February of this year I started to learn more about mixing..... Let me know your honest opinions about this mix as well.... I can understand that it can be a little basic with my melody which is fine, but I'm more concerned about how my mix is .... Again both harsh and passionate criticism is welcomed..... Enjoy....

okay so this one is really unique because i do believe that everything sits fine in its own lil home but the pianos are to brash/ harsh//// on a separate note ,, i attempted in la 2a peak reduction to the fullest/// flat response etc,,, but it was to brash// harsh,,,, so on this one i put an 1176 (waves) blue and had the piano preset to it... sounded decent but the parts where they are supposed to become present/ full began to dull... i did a number of things with this track,,, again any feed back is needed// welcomed......... (update i tweaked it out a little bit more upon the piano(s) to sit a little better.....

so this instrumental is really interesting because i currently mix on my headphones (dt 1990) and if i need a fuller of a stereo field i simply bring my laptop into my car and i mix/ attempt master in my car. in my car, the sub bass of this track collides with the guitar and everything else, but on my headphones and earbuds they are fine,,, im guessing i blew out my speakers in my car due to me not being in a living situation at the moment. let me know what yall think,,, if yall are bumping this in a car,, let me know if the sub bass collides with the guitars......honesty and passionate comments are welcomed,,
Ight y'all question..... Before I start getting deeper into my mix..... I didn't compress nothing yet( not the drums or nothing yet)..... I did a before and after of my mix after I got done reading this book another fellow Redditor had advised me on and man.... I think it might of changed me a little....what do y'all think ... Honest opinions..... Harsh criticism is welcomed (heads up there are a few mess ups due to my plugin but that's fine)..... My next step in this is to attempt to make it have a 3d image (mixing) with my drums and melodies to give it more space...... Before my other mix... It sounded lifeless and you could tell I got frustrated...... But other than that thank you
I'm an intermediate mixer and I just got done reading a book recommended by another user.... In this book it wrote about vu .... -18db = Ovu..... Right.... So when I just I have one instrument playing and it's at -18db on my DB scale ... On my vu meter it showed relative to to 7 on the DB scale and around 40 to the vu metering.... Am I reading it wrong ????
