Sick of hearing about how 2008 was worse than now because it wasn't
I always have to hear it from family members, friends, co workers, social media and from everywhere else. I'm sick of hearing headline metrics from people who won't acknowledge the conversation.
If you're measuring food, shelter and future survival (including debt and employment) right now is far worse than 2008.
Some evidence for this:
More homeless people now
Less people earn a baseline livable wage now
More people have medical, credit card and student loan debt now (They also have larger amounts + interest rates)
More people suffer from food insecurity now
Less households have emergency savings or money to spare
more homeless people have jobs
Prices are at historic highs
More people need multiple jobs
GDP and Unemployment are allegedly steady and healthy yet all of these are true.
It takes more work to afford the same thing and the same things cost more. It's harder and takes more skills to get the same jobs.
2008 is only worse than 2026 economically if you refuse to consider the facts.
The only ones who disagree are people who anecdotally point to their personal experience and cite that as a reason why the economy is performing well
